True Grit

I am so grateful that I live in today's world with electricity and heat right at my finger tips....I love old homesteads, Montana history, and the days of the last frontier....but not sure I could have made it during winters like the one we are having now....20 below wind chill...snow.....how did the old timers do it?!?!?!

Brady Gray

It was such a pleasure this fall to work with Brady Gray...she was so patient and I learned a lot from our photo shoots...trial and error....she was like my guinea pig and still seemed happy with the results....I realized later that sometimes my lighting wasn't correct because bright perfect days aren't necessarily the best days to take people pictures.  The biggest thing I learned which totally broke my heart is losing so many quality photos from our shoots due to my lack of backing up photos...still so upset about it...guess its a good thing I still take pictures for FREE!!!!

Brady made the major decision to be a soldier
This was taken Two-Medicine Valley, Blackfeet Res

Tried to incorporate some of her heritage

What I really want to try and capture is what the people want to reflect of themselves and Senior pictures are the perfect opportunity!

Brady loves basketball & plans to play at UGF

She seemed to have the most fun shooting in her basketball attire
I am a little biased because I love track...I thought she should show off some of her braggin ' rights!

Here is a couple extra shots I had fun taking & we hope to do some street clothes, close up ones this spring unless she is completely tired of being my "guinea pig"  Thanks for your time Brady!

Happy New Year 2U All!!!!!!!!

I had so much fun when I went home, but my heart was heavy when I had to leave.  You would think that a 41 year old who has not been living in her home town for practically 20 years would get over being homesick...not such the case for me.  There is just something about Glasgow that feels right for me perhaps I wouldn't think so if I actually did live there...time will tell...we hope someday to make that place our retirement home far far down the road.  We spent the entire Christmas Day at my brother's place that is out in the country.  Perfect spot for cooking the prime rib over an open fire..yes even in the winter....Dave loves doing that kind of stuff......

Chance of course had the most fun as he loves winter especially one with lots and lots of snow....and Glasgow had that to offer...the day was actually pretty decent too.  A bit nippy for me but not for Chance.  He went sledding for quite a few hours and we had to go back again on Sunday before we left town.

While we were there we even entertained the animals...Jody's dog Tip who loved to run around & play with Chance out in the snowy fields and his cows who I am sure were wondering what the heck we were doing...

Did I say it was a winter wonderland there....the snow covered everything for miles and glistened...much different then our half melted snow in Cut Bank that looked all icky & dirty...although I must admit I enjoy our little chinooks we get in Cut Bank...Glasgow seems to stay pretty cold all winter long.

Last year my New Years goal was to work on my creative side, and I have tried really hard to learn and practice more on that.  The photography has been the easiest to work on, but I have also been working on my drawing skills too-  Here is a drawing I gave to an old high school friend of mine when I was home...a tribute to her father-in-law who passed away, Lynn Cornwell.

Sheep herder wagons--Cornwell Ranch--winter

Now we can all look forward to beginning a New Year and this year I plan to cherish time spent with my family esp my daughter who will be leaving us in the Fall to college and of course my hardest obstacle will be to develop healthier habits ex; less red wine...and well those of you who know me...know how much I love red wine so won't be an easy task.  We also plan to set aside money for our future retirement place...hopefully near my brother's land in Glasgow...retirement is a ways off but the way time flies better start saving and planning now.  I hope all of you have a great New Year's Eve celebration but in particular I hope you all achieve steps even if only baby ones in fulfilling your New Year's goals for 2011...may it be a good one!!!!

What a way to close the year with none other than a Eastern MT Sunset.......goodbye 2010......

MERRY CHRISTMAS

This will probably be my last blog until the New Year
I am so excited for the new year...my goal this year is to strive for a healthier lifestyle and spend some major quality time with my daughter....it is so hard to believe that she is a senior and will not be living under our roof beginning next fall...
I am super excited for Christmas this year to spend time in my home town and to spend time with my family.  It has been a few years; I am having withdrawals...ha ha.

Christmas really is most fun for the kiddos isn't it?  Here are some photos of children that I have had the pleasure to take pictures of......hope you all have a rockin' good Christmas!
