Deep Thoughts

Just returned from my trip to downtown Memphis, a place full of history, of abandoned lots and empty buildings, perhaps some shattered dreams but of course dreams that still live on, of homeless people who caused no harm,  and of an eerily quietness, calmness with a tremendous sense of safety.

It is very hard to remember that events now long in the past were once in the future
-Maitland

Memphis cherishes those who thrived before us...Martin Luther King Jr., Elvis Presley and countless blues singers.  All had inspiring dreams...and maybe all didn't achieve those dreams, but let's hope they had fun trying

You can kill the dreamer but you cannot kill the dream
I know all of you
who know me think my trip was just about blues, booze & Kid rock-n-roll but Memphis touched me in a deeper way.  Perhaps it was envisioning all the great people before me, perhaps it was the disheartening readings at the Civil Rights museum and on top of that the tsunami events happening another world away but this I do know...life continues to go on...I personally do not think the world is coming to an end anytime soon...I do think we need to be nice to ourselves, others and the earth....but most importantly as my son would say..."in life you just live it" meaning live it to the fullest you know how...live it as if it is your last day cuz unfortunately everyday is someone's last day....

I like to think of God as love;
He's down below; he's up above
He's watching people everywhere
He knows who does and doesn't care
-Don Williams

"..We've got some difficult days ahead.  But it doesn't matter with me now.  Because I've been to the mountaintop. .."
-Martin Luther King Jr.

(Quoted the night before he was assassinated)

imagine all the people living life in peace.  You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one..
-John Lennon
